To provide effective medical services to patients under supervision whilst developing expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment. This position is not restricted to one particular unit within the Department of Orthopaedics. Responsibilities will be governed by the level of experience. These will include rotations within various units of the Department to include relief of SET Trainees. At other times a priority will be to assist with emergency workload either in Operating theatres, or within the Emergency Department. It is expected that the trainee will be committed to applying for SET training during the year. It is also expected that the trainee intends to pursue a career in Orthopaedics in a rural or regional location.
Provision of evidence-based and quality clinical care of individual patients in all domains of medical practice: Patient interview Clinical examination Identification of clinical problems and health opportunities Plan of overall clinical care and health promotion Maintenance of concise but comprehensive, accurate, legible records of patient stats and progress and associated correspondence. Manage the administrative requirements of patient care including ensuring discharge summaries and medico-legal correspondence is completed with minimal delay. Participation in roster including after hours and weekend cover as required - Participation in educational activities Act in accordance with the Local Health District Values Charter and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
