Responsibilities

Management of patients in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Supervise junior medical staff in the management of inpatients and to liaise with Radiation Oncologist responsible for the patient. Also to include:

  • Provision of inpatient consultation service.
  • Care of Terminally ill patients.
  • Radiation treatment planning under supervision of Radiation Oncologist.
  • Presentation of patient cases in multidisciplinary team and quality assurance meetings.
  • Maintenance of good communication with other Accredited and Unaccredited Trainees, working together as a team.
  • Maintenance of good communication with all staff members of the cancer service.
  • Participation in the after-hours radiation oncology on call roster.
  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Demonstration of excellent clinical skills, judgement and patient advocacy.
  • Demonstration of effective teamwork within a complex and challenging clinical environment, with high capacity for time management, problem solving and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Demonstration of interest and willingness to teach junior medical staff and participate in clinical trials and research projects.
  • Preparedness to move between services and geographical locations in the delivery of patient care, and participate in after-hours on-call as required.
  • Completion of at least 2 years full time working as a Medical Officer with demonstrated competence and eligible to be accepted into a recognised training program.
  • At least three years’ post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent)
