JOB DESCRIPTION.
To work with the Centre team to deliver counselling to individuals and couples from the Urdu-speaking community.
To remain an effective counsellor the individual will engage in ongoing professional development training and development, ongoing individual supervision and participate in group supervision as required.
Participate, if required, in talks to community groups and other health professional groups.
This role requires you to enrol in one of the below courses to become a fully qualified Relationship Counsellor with Relate West Surrey.

Diploma in Relationship Counselling | Relate
A Diploma is a 2 year Level 4 and Level 5 course for which a Level 3 qualification is required.
Post-Qualifying Certificate in Relational Counselling | Relate
The Post-Qualifying course is a 1 year Level 5 course where a candidate would already have a Level 4 qualification.
Which course you undertook would depend entirely on your current qualifications.
Whilst you are a trainee counsellor, you must sign a placement agreement to complete the required number of face to face counselling hours as part of your course.

To adhere to all relevant guidelines and procedures established by the Centre, or adopted by it in pursuance of Relate National policies.
To work at times and places reasonably decided by the Centre Management and not at unauthorised times or places. The minimum requirement to offer is to be available for 50 hours of client work over the period of the placement.
To limit counselling work to those methods and techniques which are approved by Relate.
To make full use of Relate’s provision of individual and group supervision and support. The current annual requirement is 18 hours of individual supervision and attendance at a minimum of 8 supervisor led groups a year.
To supply any records and information reasonably requested by Supervisors and Trainers, this may require recorded tapes of client sessions and this will be arranged following recognised procedures.
To keep the required confidential Relate records of counselling work. To supply them in good time on completion of clients’ counselling, to the Administration and to provide any other records and information when requested by the CEO or Supervisor.
To be regarded and treated as an employee of the Centre for the purposes of the disciplinary and grievance procedures.
To raise any matter of dispute or disagreement of an administrative or operational nature promptly with the CEO.
To give the Centre a minimum of one calendar month’s notice in writing of an intention to terminate this agreement, in order to allow appropriate arrangements to be made for clients and the continuing delivery of services.
