Position Description:
The Training Advisor (TA) directly reports to the Training Program Manager to plan, implement, and coordinate effective programs and activities promoting career opportunities for program participants, specifically, adults who have a High School Diploma or GED or returning to complete a training program and to succeed in the workforce.
Supervisor: Training Program Manager
Status: Exempt
Schedule: Full-time, with scheduled hours Monday-Thursday 9 am - 6 pm and Friday 9 am - 2 pm. Some Evenings and Weekends required.
Location: The primary work location is the Restore Education Central Campus, with additional locations as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in the Social Sciences, Education or a related field of study. Masters degree preferred.
1-3 years of experience providing services related to workforce development, and/or case management experience.
Experience providing services to non-traditional students, specifically at-risk populations.
Experience in multiple data collection and performance accountability.
Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred not required.
Salesforce or other CRM experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Highly skilled in interpersonal relationships with students and adults in leadership, management, teaching, counseling and/or other professional positions.
Knowledge and experience working with underrepresented students such as low-SES, racial/ethnic minority, LGBT+, parents, immigrants, and veterans.
Ability to present an image of confidence and professionalism in appearance and attitude.
Ability to engage students to recognize their talents and create or awaken a desire to achieve.
Knowledge of workforce preparation and job readiness to include goal setting, career exploration, essential / soft skills, job search, interviewing and resume.
Knowledge of advising/counseling techniques and procedures.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, coordinate workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
Ability to deal with diverse situations and people and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and those contacted in the course of work.
Willingness to learn new things and eagerness to acquire new skills.
Estimated Annual Salary Range: $42,000-$50,000 and based on experience and education

Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate multiple projects that will increase knowledge about access to workforce training. Assist the student in developing meaningful educational goals that are consistent with personal interests, values and abilities.
  2. Provide services to adults in the following areas:
    a. Career goal setting, exploration, and enrollment
    i. Help adults explore pathways and create a plan.
    ii. Guide adults on application and enrollment processes.
    iii. Assist instruction department to ensure students are meeting hourly requirements
    for post-testing and entrance to workforce training programs.
    b. Success and Support activities:
    i. Create and conduct career success skills workshops and document
    participation and benchmark successes.
    ii. Meet with workforce training students at their site for support sessions to assess
    needs and goals and ensure persistence & employment
    iv. Make and document appropriate adult referrals to local workforce and social
    service agencies to ensure persistence.
    v. Coordinate logistics for first day of programming which includes but
    not limited to co-enrolled and workforce trainings.
    vi. Support resume development and job search activities for students.
    c. Case management and Outreach:
    i. Manage a caseload of students and conduct regular check-ins via email, text, app, and
    record detailed data in case notes. Conduct follow up activities to track job placement and retention.
    ii. Provide a safe and understanding environment for students.
    iii. Assist in communicating with partners and other staff.
    iv. Support outreach and collaborative efforts.
  3. Complete required amount of professional development hours each year.
  4. Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required and/or assigned.
