Boeing Defence UK Limited (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,800 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK Defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISTAR Services, Through Life Support for the Chinook and Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.
The BDUK MRO, Engineering and Quality staff are required to be authorized in accordance with BDUK MAA Approvals; this equates to approximately 700 staff. This role provides the authorization co-ordination of all staff across all sites where an approval is held. The mechanical role also delivers training directly related to the authorisations issued. This includes administration, planning and delivery of the monthly induction for technicians (Engineers and Quality staff) joining the Chinook/Apache aircraft and component maintenance teams.

ESSENTIAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Level 3 qualification (or above) in Aviation Maintenance
  • Aerospace / Defence Training background
  • Demonstrably competent in the application of IT and experience in writing reports using software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
  • Ability to learn and work with new software tools such as Centrik
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Good Communicator
  • Flexible/Adaptable

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Defence Train the Trainer Qualification or Level 3 Teaching Qualification
  • Rotorcraft knowledge and experience
  • MRP Part-145 Training
  • Quality Management techniques and Tools
    Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which UK residency is required

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL TASKS

The principal tasks for this role unless otherwise directed by the BDUK SQM or Training and Authorisations Lead are:
Authorisations Co-ordinator – To co-ordinate all requests for authorisations for staff relating to the BDUK MRP Part-145 and Part M (Multi-Air System)
Process FM-BDUK-242(CENTRIK) authorisation applications in a timely manner in accordance with the Training and Authorisations (T&A Manual); ensuring that all the evidence is present and meets the criteria as defined in the FM-BDUK-582 (Competency Criteria Matrix) Updating Training and Authorisation records as requested by FM-BDUK-242(CENTRIK) Tracking the progress of all 242’s which the TA Co-ordinator has processed Be able to state the progress of all in-work 242’s submitted to the T&A Groupbox applicable to Apache Maintaining effective communications with authorisation applicants and licence holders Signing the FM-BDUK-242(CENTRIK) on behalf of T&A as having completed the Authorisation application process Preparing the Centrik authorisation licence, ready for the holder’s signature To issue authorisations iaw the Training and Authorisations manual To administer revocations and concessions in respects to BDUK authorisations

SECONDARY TASKS

Documentation reviews –Assist with the review of proposals, contracts, Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publications (MRP), program and customer requirements in order to identify training and authorisations needs.
Process reviews / updates – To generate, review and update processes relating to training and engineering authorisations for approval by the process owner.
Non-Conformance Management – Manage all non-conformances raised against areas within your responsibility. Identify root causes and corrective and preventive action for all non-conformances raised and report progress and the Corrective Action, Preventive Action (CAPA) board.
