Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling including CPB Contractors, Ghella and Acciona Construction delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).
We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others.
SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is now under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035.
Suburban Connect is constructing the 16kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods. The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated supports.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years in a similar or safety role.
  • Experience with training, worker competency compliance, and onboarding systems.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to build knowledge in industry regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
  • Management of the project’s health and safety training platform (Damstra) for oversight of subcontractor onboarding, worker competence and training compliance
  • Deliver internal training on worker competence requirements and the Damstra system
  • Engage with external and internal stakeholders to advise on system requirements, updates and improvements, ensuring adherence to industry legislation and regulations
  • Lead and supervise a health and safety trainee team member
  • Conduct monthly site-based audits, and daily desktop reviews for worker competence and training compliance
  • Develop and enhance systems and processes to improve worker competence compliance
  • End to end training coordination and liaising with training providers to meet project requirements
  • Assist with internal audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews
  • Support the wider project team with Damstra queries.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and compliance with legislation.
