Description Association of Washington Cities (AWC) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Training Coordinator. This full-time position is responsible for coordinating and supporting both internal and external subject matter experts in delivering a broad spectrum of trainings and programs, including in-person events and online learning, for AWC members, particularly city elected officials and staff. The incumbent will support and coordinate conferences, forums, workshops, webinars, and other online education, as well as the Certificate of Municipal Leadership program and the Center for Qualities Communities scholarship. Founded in 1933, AWC is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, which provides a wide array of services to cities and towns in the State of Washington. AWC builds connections between our state’s diverse cities and towns, while providing our members with the support needed to thrive through delivery of data-driven education, nationally recognized pooling programs, and nonpartisan advocacy. Compensation and benefits: Salary The full salary range for this position is $69,329 - $109,541 annually. The top candidate’s placement within the range will typically fall between the minimum and 25th percentile of the range, depending on education, training, experience, and other conditions consistent with AWC policy. A compensation market analysis is completed every other year. As outlined in policy, AWC employees generally receive an annual adjustment based on market and economic changes, and an increase based on meeting full performance expectations. Health insurance AWC pays 100% of the medical premium for employees and 90% of the medical premium for spouse/domestic partner and child(ren) up to age 26. Dental and vision insurance are 100% employer-paid for employees and eligible dependents. Retirement benefits For every $1 an employee contributes toward their 401(k), AWC matches the contribution with $1.20, up to 10% of the employee’s base salary, subject to IRS thresholds. Employer match can also be applied towards eligible student loan payments. Paid leave Employees accrue four hours of paid vacation leave in the first year of employment for every semi-monthly pay period, with vacation accrual increasing over time; four hours of paid sick leave for every semi-monthly pay period; 11 paid holidays and two floating holidays each year. Additional benefits Basic life insurance and disability insurance; employer-funded Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) ranging from $770 to $1,980 based upon enrollment in the medical insurance plans; access to outstanding performance awards and tuition assistance; and staff appreciation events. This position is eligible to telework on certain days of the week, subject to approval and as determined by AWC. Recruitment closes on March 30, 2026, at 5:00 pm. What you’ll be doing: Coordinate and execute the annual training and educational workplan, including workshops, forums, conferences, and webinars. Support training development from conception through close out, including identification of topic and speakers and coordination of training development. Administer online trainings and meetings (webinars and web meetings) for members and staff as assigned. Gather and prepare content and materials for conferences, forums, workshops, and webinars as assigned. Respond to inquiries about the AWC Certificate of Municipal Leadership program (CML); assist members in identifying training opportunities and outreach to members when they are close to achieving their CML. Conduct and/or coordinate the production and communication for achievement of CML to include advising members on progress, responding to inquiries, coordinating award certificates, and sending congratulatory emails. Field general member inquiries that come to the team by phone or email; respond to inquiries where possible, coordinate response with other staff or forward to internal subject matter experts when needed. Conduct regular review of the AWC website to ensure webinar and web meeting content migrates to the website and remains up to date. Coordinate annual scholarship program for Center for Quality Communities by determining timelines, coordinating with the selection committee, working with Communications on marketing and website updates, supporting the selection process, and sending award/regret letters. Coordinate the call for presentation (CFP) process. Stay abreast of technological solutions for webinars, hybrid meetings, events, and other online learning, and coordinate with internal parties as needed. Participate in internal committees such as the AWC Records Committee and perform file management functions in accordance with the AWC retention schedule. Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality. Travel to trainings and events, overnight stays generally will not exceed 15 nights per year. Requirements: 2 years hands on experience in project management or coordination of a training program or related field. Bachelor’s degree in related field; experience may be substituted year-for-year for academic achievement. Maintain a valid Washington state driver’s license in good standing. What you bring to the team: Working knowledge of core topics and issues areas important for local elected officials to understand. Knowledge of current training trends and best practices. Skilled communicator with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to both the internal and the external customer. Demonstrated proficiency in using virtual meeting and webinar platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and/or other web meeting software. Ability to consistently perform work without errors, maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft 365 office products with an emphasis on PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and SharePoint, and have the ability to learn and use a wide variety of proprietary software. Demonstrated understanding of municipal government issues. Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment, assisting team members as needed. Make effective decisions and act independently in managing and coordinating duties. Comfortable speaking in front of small and large groups. Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams. Ability to be flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed time frames. Working conditions: The incumbent may work irregular hours and may begin and end work beyond the normal workday when necessary to perform duties. Work is performed primarily in an office setting and sedentary in nature, with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Incumbent must be able to lift up to and carry 30 pounds at times. Work may also involve standing for long periods, stooping, repetitive motions with hand, wrist and fingers.
