Responsibilities

The Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) Center of Excellence (COE) seeks a dedicated and skilled Training Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will develop, schedule, and facilitate comprehensive training programs for local health departments (LHDs) across all 62 counties in New York State to enhance their ability to serve families, children, and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). This role involves close collaboration with NYSDOH and Weill Cornell medical partners to ensure training programs are informed by research, best practices, and the specific needs of LHDs. The Training Coordinator will 1) develop, conduct, and synthesize the results of an annual needs and resources assessment of LHD program staff; 2) use the results of needs and resources assessments as well as a synthesis of existing research and best practices to develop and deliver online and in-person training and technical assistance for LHD program staff (including effective strategies such as Public Health Detailing); and 3) engage in continuous quality improvement strategies to evaluate and improve training and technical assistance provided to LHD program staff. These services are delivered throughout New York State, and on occasion, nationally; travel is required for this position.
While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.
The successful Training Coordinator will bring a strong background in public health education, along with the ability to design and deliver data-informed, high-impact training for local health departments across New York State. You will be a collaborative communicator and skilled facilitator, committed to advancing equitable care for children and youth with special health care needs through continuous quality improvement and partnership with state and medical stakeholders.
You will be joining a dynamic team where collaboration thrives and colleagues support one another, creating a positive and inclusive environment that fosters creativity and innovation. We are looking for candidates who not only bring the right skills but also value teamwork and team spirit.
