Description The Training & Employment Specialist plays a vital role in supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing staff and interns through job readiness training, coaching, and workplace support. This part-time position supports the goals of the Innovation Program by providing hands-on training, promoting community engagement, coordinating events, and maintaining accurate program documentation and reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and committed to creating an inclusive, supportive work environment. Provide daily on-the-job coaching and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing staff and interns. Deliver employment-focused training, including job application assistance, interview preparation, and workplace readiness, as well as recruiting with the Deaf community. Support interns directly in the workplace and help monitor their progress. Collaborate with MTC staff to promote the Innovation Program through marketing, community engagement, and events. Attend Employer Job Fairs, Deaf community events, and MTC-sponsored events. Builds relationships with employers. Track key program metrics and outcomes using tools like Microsoft Excel and Word. Maintain organized records, documentation, and reports related to program performance and participant progress. Provide progress updates to the Program Manager. Provide administrative duties, as needed. Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment for staff, interns, and stakeholders. Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree strongly preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in training, coaching, or administrative support roles; relevant transferable experience considered. Experience working with the Deaf or Hard of Hearing community is highly desirable. Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) preferred. Excellent written communication skills in English. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Intermediate level in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Detail-oriented with strong time management and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment. A people-first, service-oriented mindset is essential. Flexibility to attend events during evenings or weekends (adjusted schedule provided). VR job coach certified or able to attain credentials within the first year. Up to 20 hours per week; hours depending on business needs. On-site position. Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekend work for event attendance, etc. Must pass a Level II background check and drug screening.
