Job Details Job Location: Maine - Brewer, ME 04412 Education Level: High School Job Shift: 1st Shift (7am - 3pm) Somic America is seeking a dedicated and motivated Training Specialist to join our Human Resources Department. This role supports the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of employee training and ensures that all employees have the skills, knowledge, and safety awareness needed to perform their jobs effectively. A key responsibility of this position is leading and improving New Hire Orientation and onboarding. The Training Specialist will guide new employees through their training period, coach them as they learn their roles, and ensure they feel supported as they transition into the workplace. Because this role serves all three production shifts, a flexible schedule is required. Working closely with the Plant Management, the Training Specialist will design, update, and deliver training for all employees, supervisors, and new hires. This includes hands-on and classroom-style instruction on equipment operation, gauging, standard work, machine release and in-process checks, defect identification, and general safety and operational processes. The position also assists in developing clear and accurate training materials such as manuals, SOPs, work instructions, presentations, and visual aids. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence in presenting to groups are essential. The Training Specialist also manages critical administrative and compliance tasks, including maintaining accurate training records, updating the training database, tracking certifications, organizing employee files, and maintaining forklift, crane and first aid certification lists. Training Specialist This position plays an important role in supporting OSHA requirements, ISO standards, and internal company policies. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation for audits, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and assisting with new process rollouts by creating and delivering training content. Collaboration with all departments is essential to keep training aligned with operational needs and safety expectations. Candidates must demonstrate strong organization, attention to detail, professionalism, and confidentiality. Effective communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment are critical. Experience in training, human resources, manufacturing, or safety is preferred.
