SUMMARY:  The Trainer Supervisor will have a strong working knowledge of data management, food safety practices, carcass anatomy, and fabrication processes to improve yield and support the development of efficient ways to process meat. As such, the Trainer Supervisor will provide day-to-day leadership and management for all Production Trainers on shift, establish means and methods to ensure all Production Trainers provide adequate instructions and training of newly hired and existing employees to perform their job duties safely and correctly, and help reduce employee turnover.    The training Supervisor will need to be flexible, from A shist to B Shift they will rotate shifts with the training manager.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    The Trainer Supervisor will carry out tasks related to training staff:  * Provide the day-to-day leadership and management for all Production Trainers on B shift who oversee workers and trainees, ensuring proper and accurate cuts are being made.  * Meet with all trainers at least weekly to assess employee needs.  * Ensure all newly hired and existing employees on the fabrication floor perform their jobs safely, correctly and with the highest level of quality and ability to pull count, in conjunction with Safety.  * Ensure all newly hired and existing employees receive instruction and training regarding proper cuts through training methods conducted on fabrication floor.  * Collect and review training documents filled out by Production Trainers regarding newly hired employees’ progress and work with experienced employees and Trainer/Mentors to correct any shortfalls according to the documentation as required or needed.  * Make visual observations on worker/trainee execution of proper cuts while on the line and correct training issues or deficiencies at the time. Follow up at a later time with the Trainer to ensure they have the correct process to pass on.  * Attend weekly yield meetings and work with management to determine methods to train and improve processing and packaging of animal products to reduce waste.  * Complete any required reports accurately and timely.  * Continually train and motivate all newly hired and existing Production Trainers.  * Communicate daily expectations, direction and instructions and provide on-going feedback.  * Adhere to all safety procedures, accident investigation analysis, conduct departmental safety meetings, and utilize equipment provided for employee protection.  * Ensure new hires have weekly progress reviews with their production trainers    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the work environment, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or preferred.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  2 or more years of college, with a minimum of 3 years of meat packaging experience preferred, preferably in the pork industry.  Prior training experience is preferred.  Must be able to develop and maintain employee tracking programs and report findings. Experience in Excel, Word and PowerPoint is preferred.    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.        LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.   Ability to effectively present information before groups of customers or employees of the organization.  Fluency in additional language(s) highly desired.      MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.  Demonstrated ability to understand basic statistics for process control.  Ability to perform necessary calculations for completion of production paperwork.     REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Must be able to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.  Advanced skills in MS Office.    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility.  The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects share and use tools/hand tools; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear taste and smell and occasionally sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.    WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold/hot and/or humid conditions.  The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hot temperature and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.  The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.  Will work in close proximity to other employees working with knives, cramped spaces and in poor lighting and ventilation.      NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.      MISSION, VISION, & VALUES: Must believe and lead STF’s MISSION of producing quality pork products, igniting the passion and growth of our team members, helping our community thrive, and making our business prosperous. Remembering that together we will achieve more by working safely and cultivating an inclusive and empowering environment.  Must believe and fully engage in STF’s VISION of being a place where we all belong, working as one, to build our future.
