TRANSACTIONAL ACCOUNTANT - TREASURY, INTERCOMPANY & TAX (B-II)

Responsibilities:
This role is critical to the successful management of the Treasury, Intercompany & Tax (VAT, PSA) functions and supporting the AR/AP functions to ensure business exposure and risk is minimised by timely reconciliations, payment, receipt and allocation of company cash-flows in accordance with regulations, analysing new initiatives and harmonising new developments, whilst ensuring the integrity of all Accounting Services’ processes for Athlon UK. You can do this with full focus on:
- Managing the daily processing of all Athlon UK cash flows received and paid in the bank. Ensuring timely allocation and clearance in the AR and AP ledgers. Supporting the transactional accounting team in investigating and escalating unallocated receipts.
- Producing the daily cash forecast and send to the Mercedes-Benz AG central treasury team by the required deadline, ensuring to capture future outgoing/incoming payments and investigate/resolve any differences found.
- Managing the company bank account, including processing CHAPs/Faster payments and banking cheques, ensuring that appropriate supporting documentation is filed inclduing relevant authorisations and information is accurate.
- Supporting with the preparation of monthly VAT review and quarterly VAT reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to HMRC.
- Managing the employee expenses process, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of expenses including documenting any PSA related information.
- Managing the PSA process inclduing preparation of the annual PSA submission to HMRC, ensuring all relevant items are captured by reviewing all OPEX and working with the wider business to understand their PSA related spend in the year.
- Managing the end-to-end intercompany process for Athlon UK which includes month end reporting in accordance with pre-agreed timelines, reconciliations, timely identification and resolution of differences. Liaising with other group copanies to ensure accurate reporting and recognition of intercompany balances and transactions.
- Managing the month end close of the cash ledgers and bank, ensuring they are reconciled within the agreed timescales set internally and externally by Athlon International and Mercedes-Benz AG.
- Reviewing and maintaining of all accounting processes under ICS requirements, reviewing design and testing control activities within dealines. Ensuring that when processes are changed, they are documented in the procedures and design control tests. In addition, supporting the annual external audit by providing documents and evidence for transactions when required

- An ideal candidate would be working towards an ACCA/CIMA qualification or fully qualified in AAT.
- Previous experience working in an accounting function is essential and previous work experience in financial services/fleet industry is desirable.
- Proficient in Excel and ability to use accounting systems.
- Good understanding of ICS, audit requirements, financial reporting standards (IFRS, UK GAAP).
- An understanding of VAT and PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSA).
- Excellent attention to detail, highly analytical and ability to investigate.
- Proactive attitude, willing to take ownership of problems and resolve them to a satisfactory conclusion within pre-determined timeframes.
- Outgoing personality with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with senior management and other functions in the business.
- Adopts a mind-set of continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility
