Summary The position will focus on ensuring that physician’s dictations are completed correctly and promptly. Will also be responsible for sending back completed reports that need amended. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. • Interprets dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals in order to assist with the medical dictation with editing and clarification the transcribe reports. • Recognizes and removes all discrepancies present in the medical dictation in order to create a flawless transcribed radiology report. • Ensuring that the final draft consists all-important details of clinic and patient information thereby preparing a fully-fledged report • Knowledge of operating dictation and transcription equipment (Powerscribe) and troubleshoot problems. • Acts as a communication link between medical transcriptionists and dictation originators, creating a path for two-way feedback • Maintains systems security • All other duties as assigned Education / Experience/Knowledge & Skill • Minimum of one-year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical terminology a must. Must have computer and phone experience. • High school graduate or GED preferred. • Proficient in computer software and excellent typing skills. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Previous working experience in customer service, preferably in a medical setting. • Knowledge of customer service concepts and company policies including safety, privacy and HIPAA. • Problem solving techniques and skills. • Proficient in computer software and excellent typing skills with accuracy and attention to detail. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Problem solving techniques and skills. • Able to communicate clearly to establish cooperative relationships with radiologists and team members. • Knowledge of medical terminology and spelling of correct medical terms and abbreviations. • Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet resources. • Prefer three (3) years’ experience as a medical language specialist who can interpret dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals. • Current designation of Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CDHS) from AHDI is preferred.
