JOB SUMMARY

The Transfer Coordinator oversees and organizes incoming and outgoing transfers for the Pueblo (PUB) campus including routinely assessing shelter space and resources when transferring animals; maintaining internal communications across departments and campuses about transfer animals; building and developing relationships with external organizations that either benefit from alternative placement options for animals or specialize in accepting animals in need of alternative placement. The Transfer Coordinator ensures an environment of compassionate and respectful animal and people care in accordance with HSPPR’s mission, values, goals, and management philosophy.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

  • Schedule may include weekend and holiday work.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

  • Ability to effectively read, write, interpret, communicate, perform basic problem solving, and perform basic math as commonly expected from completion of a High School Diploma or Equivalent Education.
  • Experience working in an animal welfare organization preferred, animal handling experience a plus.
  • Experience working with volunteers or previous experience as a volunteer preferred.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Must be detail oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, data entry and reporting

Responsibilities

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the coordination, implementation, and logistics of HSPPR’s transport-related functions, including but not limited to reviewing and selecting animal candidates submitted for internal or external alternative placement options due to medical, behavior, or space reasons; determining if there are appropriate placement options; maintaining a transport calendar; following shelter illnesses and disease transmission prevention protocols; maintains cleanliness of animal transport kennels.
  • Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accordingly. Conducts transports in accordance with the Pet Facilities Animal Care Facilities Act (PACFA) rules and regulations.
  • Organizes regular professional servicing of the animal transfer vehicle to maintain functionality.
  • Monitors and ensures that volunteers are adhering to high quality standards of animal care, handling, and sanitation and performance is consistent with protocols.
  • Provides appropriate training and guidance to transport volunteers, including ongoing assistance, coaching and moral support.
  • Maintain appropriate recordkeeping of animals daily, including location, current status, and placement decision.
  • Schedules and conducts release for cats participating in HSPPR’s Shelter, Neuter, Return, program.
  • Oversees offsite adoptions when appropriate.
