POSITION SUMMARY:

The Transfer Press Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of transfer press operations, including production, team leadership, employee training, and press programming. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong floor presence to support staff, maintain quality, and drive productivity. The Supervisor works closely with the Plant Superintendent and Automation Specialist to ensure alignment with safety, efficiency, and cost goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a metal stamping environment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with transfer press operations and die setup.
  • Proficient in programming transfer presses; robotic automation experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling software.
  • Sound knowledge of Ontario health and safety regulations and industrial best practices.
  • Proven ability to train, supervise, and evaluate staff performance objectively.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and production reporting tools.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support team members in the setup, changeover, and operation of transfer press stamping equipment.
  • Provide direction, training, and support to operators to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate work performance.
  • Maintain a safety-first culture by enforcing all health and safety policies in accordance with OHSA regulations.
  • Work with the Maintenance and Automation departments to coordinate repairs and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Program transfer presses and robotic components to optimize production flow and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and interpret ERP/MRP schedules to plan daily production, ensuring timely delivery and cost control.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve production issues promptly while minimizing scrap and material waste.
  • Maintain an organized, inspection-ready production floor that meets or exceeds safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Track and report production KPIs; lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Enforce compliance with quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
  • Facilitate effective communication among departments and shifts through meetings, reports, and documentation.
  • Evaluate team performance, provide feedback, and manage attendance, conduct, and performance issues appropriately.
