Archway Society is seeking casual/relief Support Workers to work at our Women’s Transition House.
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
· Diploma in Human/Social Services field, or equivalent
· Understanding of and demonstrated skills and ability to work from a feminist perspective
· Strong cultural competency and socially inclusive practice.
· One year recent related experience, which includes program delivery experience in a residential setting in the women-serving sector
· Demonstrated working knowledge of the justice system and issues/practices to violence against women
· Provides a wide range of services to residents including intake and orientation, needs assessment and action plan development, information and referral, safety and security monitoring, risk assessment and safety planning.
· Provides emotional support and encouragement, facilitation of conflict resolution and group meetings, and crisis intervention.
· Supports clients in accessing other community services, maintains positive relationships with providers through cooperative planning, and maintains current knowledge of issues and resources.
· Responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation and client records, including statistical information, log and report writing.
· Performs some minor maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure the House and office are well-maintained.
· As part of the Residential Programs Team, actively participates and contributes to team meetings, program planning and training opportunities.
This on-call position offers flexible scheduling, making it ideal for those seeking meaningful work that fits around other life commitments. As part of our dedicated team, you’ll have the opportunity to support women and children fleeing intimate partner violence, providing critical support when it’s needed most. While there is no set schedule, candidates should have fairly open availability for daytime, afternoon, and overnight shifts across all seven days of the week. This role is well-suited for individuals looking to gain experience in the field, supplement an existing part-time position, or for those who are semi-retired and interested in working in an anti-violence field.
