Description

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and integrate translational science strategies for R&I projects and clinical studies, focusing on human target validation, target engagement, and precision medicine.
  • Build mechanistic understanding of targets and diseases through innovative experimental methods and technologies.
  • Establish translational evidence packages for new targets using public and proprietary biobanks.
  • Identify and enable PoM biomarkers to demonstrate target engagement at First Time In Human (FTIH).
  • Deliver precision medicine strategies to identify patients most likely to benefit from our medicines.
  • Represent TSEM’s translational and precision medicine strategy in investment decisions and governance interactions.
  • Integrate translational and precision medicine strategy into key clinical documents.
  • Interpret biomarker data from clinical studies to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to regulatory and health authority responses, authoring submission document sections related to Mode of Action, PK/PD, and precision medicine.
  • Prepare and review scientific publications to support publication and marketing strategies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • PhD or MD equivalent with a strong experimental drive and background in relevant scientific field
  • Post-doc experience or otherwise relevant scientific research experience
  • Experience in an academic and/or industry setting
  • Strong publication record

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Proven ability to deliver in precision medicine and human target validation applied to drug discovery
  • Excellent understanding of Immunology and/or Respiratory therapy areas and disease biology
  • Experience with patient stratification, precision medicine, and biomarker invention
  • Familiarity with target engagement biomarkers and PoM biomarker implementation
  • Broad understanding of relevant technologies and methodologies with excellent scientific laboratory skills
  • Strong skills in hypothesis forming, testing, and drawing conclusions from experimental data
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to be a self-starter
  • Strong team working skills with a proven track record of collaborative work
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

At AstraZeneca, our Translational Science Lead (TSL) plays a pivotal role in our Precision Medicine groups within the Translational Science and Experimental Medicine (TSEM) department.
