Job Summary: The Translator I facilitates bilingual communication between Japanese and English speakers through accurate translation and interpretation of written and spoken content. This role supports cross-cultural collaboration across departments by translating documents such as policies, technical manuals, and business communications, and interpreting during meetings and conferences. The Translator I ensures consistency and clarity in all communications by following company style guides and utilizing translation memory tools. Flexibility to support teams outside standard hours and in a construction or industrial environment is required.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) REQUIREMENTS:

  • To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

EDUCATION:

  • Required: High school diploma, GED or 2 years of prior experience in functional area
  • Preferred: Technical degree with a focus on manufacturing or equivalent education and experience

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English (spoken and written)
  • Proven experience as a translator/interpreter in a business or technical environment
  • High attention to detail and ability to translate accurately and quickly
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to work in industrial environments and outside standard hours as needed
  • Alignment to Panasonic’s seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1–2 years of professional translation/interpretation experience in a bilingual corporate or manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with Japanese business etiquette and experience supporting cross-cultural teams
  • Knowledge of technical terminology and quality standards related to manufacturing (e.g., ISO, construction, or battery production)
  • Ability to manage multiple translation and interpretation requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Technological proficiency with interpretation-related hardware/software
