Would you like to join the leading international intergovernmental organization? The Transmission Engineer will provide critical Level 2 and 3 support for NATO's managed transmission infrastructure. The role focuses on the network management, maintenance, and engineering of key NATO communication systems (NGCS, DCIS, AirC2 Link 1), ensuring high availability and performance across legacy and modern IP/MPLS networks. Responsibilities: Provide fault, performance, configuration, and security management for services provisioned via NGCS and AirC2 Link 1 transmission components. Assist in the operations, maintenance, and engineering of assigned transmission systems, including smart multiplexers, routers, switches, and cryptographic equipment. Provide engineering assistance for the evaluation of incident reports and trend analysis. Support the planning and implementation of system configuration changes and enhancements. Assist in the development, maintenance, and review of all technical documentation, including Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and engineering guidance notes. Conduct technical reviews to ensure implementation projects comply with system and service requirements. Provide specialist advice and knowledge transfer to staff on transmission services and systems. Assist and advise remote sites to resolve technical transmission service incidents. Collaborate with technical personnel across CSU, DCM, and AirC2 Link 1 teams. Essential Qualifications & Experience: A university degree in ICT System Engineering and supplemented by substantial qualifications within the C41SR Domain. In-depth knowledge of Alcatel Lucent Service Routers, Service Access Router and Switches, as well as Cisco routing and switching equipment In-depth knowledge and experience in the installation, testing, integration and programming and configuration of telecommunications multiplexers on switched and TOM networks A minimum of 4 years' experience with the configuration and operation of Network Monitoring and Event Management systems ideally lntermapper, Spectrum, HP Openview and Splunk General experience in the installation, testing, integration and programming and configuration of IP/MPLS routing networks. In-depth knowledge and experience of legacy communications networks (TOM, SOH, ATM, synchronization) General knowledge of modern communications systems such as IP/MPLS, DWDM technology. Ability to effectively work and communicate in English Desirable: • Experience on specific NATO transmission networks, interfaces and encryption devices • Related field experience in operation, administration and maintenance of digital telecommunication and transmission systems. • Valid/active Alcatel Lucent Network Routing Specialist II (NRS II) or higher (or equivalent demonstrable knowledge) • Valid/active Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) routing and switching or higher certification (or equivalent demonstrable knowledge). • Related field experience and knowledge related to RAD Megaplex family of products and management tools • NET/SONUS Promina experience and knowledge • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements If you've read the description and feel this role is a great match, we'd love to hear from you!
