Unleash your engineering talents at CIMA+ as a Transmission Lines Engineer. In this fulfilling position, you’ll leverage your credentials as a professional engineer to drive innovation. Employing your sharp analytical capabilities and sound judgment, you’ll navigate complex design obstacles, championing leading-edge methodologies that elevate CIMA+’s engineering prowess. You will work on the most interesting project across Canada.
You will have the opportunity to take part in our hybrid work model that includes flexible work hours, including 2 days /week in our Mississauga or Ottawa office.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience and a history of working in Transmission projects. Lattice tower design is a must.
  • Registered member of a Professional Engineering association in Ontario/Canada, or eligible for registration in Ontario
  • Proficient in design/analysis software (Power Line System) and CAD systems, along with familiarity of drawing standards
  • Excellent communication abilities in English – written and verba
Responsibilities
  • Design overhead line, structures and associated facilities for voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment
  • Perform structural analysis and detailed modeling using the Power Line Systems suite (PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE).
  • Apply loads (CSA, ASCE, IEEE, etc.), design criteria, seismic analysis per regulatory and industry standards, considering associated civil, mechanical, electrical systems like foundations, lightning protection, conductors, and hardware
  • Prepare technical documents including design reports, design basis memoranda, specifications, cost estimates, and construction packages in accordance with CIMA+ standards.
  • Develop engineering work packages with scope, duration, and effort estimates, and manage design tasks including scope, schedule, and cost for existing and new facilities
  • Develop safe engineering solutions through design, problem analysis, and interpreting specifications for medium complexity utilities projects.
  • Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems through independent studies, analysis, exercising judgment in information selection, and recommending safe engineering designs
  • Contribute to CIMA+’s engineering practices by conducting studies, developing technical standards, exercising judgment in information evaluation, recommending designs, and providing guidance to other engineers
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by defining engineering scope with clients, establishing design criteria, approving technical documentation, and assessing/reporting progress against standards and objectives for safe, quality, budget-compliant, and timely project completion
  • Provide signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record per PEO and CIMA+’s practices
  • Offer technical assistance, construction support, and field reviews as required
