Job Summary: The Transportation/Traffic Engineer plays a crucial role in leading and managing engineering projects. This position involves applying advanced engineering principles, providing technical expertise, and overseeing the planning and execution of traffic-related initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. This is a remote position with expectations of travel to client and project locations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in traffic engineering projects, with a focus municipal client
  • EIT required. CA Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage engineering projects from initiation to completion.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams.
  • Consult with municipal clients and stakeholders on all traffic engineering projects as assigned.
  • Conduct detailed traffic studies and analyses to identify patterns, congestion points, and safety concerns.
  • Use modeling and simulation tools to evaluate and improve traffic flow.
  • Develop and review traffic signal plans, roadway geometrics, and signage.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure traffic engineering considerations are integrated into infrastructure projects.
  • Stay updated on traffic engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles to solve complex transportation & traffic engineering challenges.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in traffic management.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including planners, environmental engineers, and transportation professionals, to ensure holistic project planning.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as government agencies and contractors.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of traffic engineering designs and analyses.
  • Engage with the community and stakeholders to gather input and address concerns related to traffic engineering projects.
  • Present technical information to non-technical audiences in a clear and accessible manner.
