We are seeking a dedicated Transport Clerk based in Caldicot to support our planning and management teams in ensuring smooth transport operations. This is an office-based position that provides the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks, from customer service to liaising with subcontracting partners.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
· Forklift driving certification or experience (training can be provided)
· Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
· Experience in transport or logistics (preferred but not essential)
· A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Transport Clerk, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of our transport department. Your responsibilities will include assisting planners and management with customer service queries, carrying out essential office-based activities, and maintaining effective communication with our subcontracting partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responding to customer service queries promptly and professionally
· Scanning and processing Proof of Delivery (POD) documents
· Processing and managing transport orders with accuracy
· Liaising with subcontracting partners to gather updates and ensure coordination
· Driving a forklift at peak times and ensuring safe handling of goods
· Supporting planners and management with administrative tasks as needed
· Maintaining organised records and assisting with data entry
