Role Overview
As the Plant & Transport Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive administrative support to the Transport and Plant Division of the business. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance and compliance of plant, vehicles and equipment to and from the companies’ construction sites, while adhering to health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet and Transport Duties

  • Compliance & Safety: Assisting the Plant and Transport Manager to ensure the fleet adheres to all legal requirements, including DVSA regulations, tachograph laws, and Health & Safety standards. Ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance documentation are maintained.
  • Fleet Maintenance: administering the planning of maintenance, servicing, MOTs, and repairs of all vehicles and plant. Working with the in-house mechanics to ensure the fleet remains in top operational condition.
  • Defect Management: Ensure all defect reports are monitored, logged, and acted upon promptly. Proactively assist the rectification of defects and ensure that issues do not affect the efficiency of operations.
  • Fleet Performance: Maintain a system of monitoring and tracking fleet performance, including fuel efficiency, driver performance, and vehicle wear-and-tear.
  • Track and monitor the movement of vehicles and plant using fleet management systems
  • Handle inbound calls and messages from drivers, providing assistance and guidance as needed.

Compliance and Best Practice

  • Ensure health and safety requirements are met across the department with improvement where possible.
  • Ensuring all personnel files are up to date incorporating licence validation, personal details, completed training.
  • Support to the Transport Manager in delivering continuous improvement initiatives through effective data analysis and communication to enhance transport efficiency and reduce operational downtime.
  • Ensuring excellent communication between all departments within the business.
  • Keeping back-office systems updated on a day-to-day basis.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Transport and/or Plant Co-ordinator or similar logistics role, preferably in construction-related industries.
  • Knowledge of transport legislation, vehicle maintenance, and health & safety regulations.
  • Strong PC Literacy including Word & Excel
