Description

Reporting to the Equipment Manager, the Transport Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, compliance, and financial performance of the trucking division. This role ensures the efficient, safe, and timely movement of heavy construction equipment and large stationary machines across provincial and federal jurisdictions. The Superintendent is accountable for planning and supervising specialized hauling operations, ensuring compliance with all transportation regulations, and maximizing fleet productivity and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the movement of heavy equipment and oversize/overweight loads, including asphalt plants, and other stationary machinery
  • Obtain and manage all permits (overweight, over-dimensional, special route), ensuring compliance with restrictions and communicating requirements to drivers
  • Coordinate pilot vehicles, and escorts (when required) for safe transport of specialized loads
  • Work directly with site leadership to plan mobilization/demobilization of equipment and plants, ensuring freight efficiency and safe handling
  • Be present during major moves to oversee safety, timing, and compliance
  • Support plant crews with set-up and teardown during mobilizations
  • Dispatch and schedule company-owned and contract trucks to meet project demands across multiple provinces
  • Optimize routing, load planning, and fleet utilization
  • Code and approve invoices, oversee cost tracking, and support budgeting/forecasting
  • Monitor fleet maintenance to ensure all vehicles are inspected and repaired to meet compliance standards
  • Assist with procurement of new and used trucks and trailers suitable for specialized hauling
  • Ensure compliance with NSC standards and Federal Hours of Service regulations
  • Administer International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) reporting and audits
  • Manage International Registration Plan (IRP) licensing and renewals
  • Oversee Electronic Logging Device (ELD) use, monitoring, and reporting
  • Maintain driver qualification files, medical records, abstracts, and certifications
  • Prepare for and manage federal/provincial safety audits and carrier profile monitoring
