Responsibilities

WORKING IN A SMALL TEAM, AS THE TRANSPORT COORDINATOR YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Efficient load/route planning including planning return loads, seeking backloads and other general haulage loads to maximise vehicle utilisation (note, no load is ever the same due to different combination of products, each with different sizes, different weights etc)
  • Monitoring of costs
  • Checking of ‘unassigned deliveries’
  • Generating delivery notifications
  • Checking all returned POD’s and updating accounts regarding invoices
  • Hiring of sub-contracted haulage where necessary
  • Daily supervision and liaison with all drivers
  • Communicating with customers, managing complaints, informing of any additional charges
  • Administration including production of driver timesheets, driver paperwork, daily POD’s, scanning, filing etc.
  • Vehicle maintenance including scheduling servicing, arranging MOTs etc.
  • Documentation and reporting, maintaining records, generating reports
    As part of the role, you will also be trained to undertake compliance tasks to cover your colleague whilst they are on annual leave/absent.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE TRANSPORT COORDINATOR ROLE:

  • Previous experience working in a transport coordination/load planning role
  • Proactive (seeking out backloads, maximising vehicle utilisation)
  • Excellent geographical knowledge
  • Understanding of transport compliance desirable (not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good administration skills, accurate and organised
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work under pressure, use initiative
  • Quick and eager to learn
  • Team worker, flexible and willing to assist where required
  • Own vehicle (due to office location)

    Hours: Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm, 1 hour lunch, 40 hours per week
    Salary £28,000 + Company Benefits

    Pay: £28,000.00 per year
