Transport Planning Coordinator

£33,000 + up to 8% bonus | 4 on 4 off | Hybrid working | Hemel Hempstead

Are you an experienced Transport Planner looking for a role that offers a great work-life balance, a strong salary and the opportunity to join a successful global business?

This could be exactly what you're looking for.

We're recruiting for an award-winning global business based in Hemel Hempstead, who are looking for an experienced Transport Planning Coordinator to join their established and friendly planning team.

With a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys transport planning but wants a working pattern that gives them plenty of time away from work.

You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating road transport movements across the UK, working closely with customers, hauliers, distribution centres and internal teams to ensure vehicles, routes and deliveries are planned as efficiently as possible.

What you'll be doing

You'll play a key role in keeping the transport operation running smoothly, with responsibility for:

  • Planning and coordinating daily UK road transport movements.
  • Reviewing outstanding orders and prioritising transport requirements.
  • Planning efficient routes and consolidating loads to maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise empty mileage.
  • Selecting cost-effective transport solutions while maintaining agreed customer service levels.
  • Arranging transport with approved hauliers and coordinating collection and delivery times.
  • Working closely with customers, hauliers and distribution centres to ensure transport plans are delivered effectively.
  • Monitoring live transport operations and proactively resolving any issues that arise.
  • Keeping the Transport Management System (TMS) accurate and up to date.
  • Recording delays, exceptions and operational updates accurately.
  • Providing operational information to support KPIs and reporting.
  • Escalating issues quickly where required to minimise disruption.
  • Supporting the wider operations team and identifying opportunities to improve planning processes and efficiency.
