The Opportunity:
Olds College is seeking available Transport Drivers to work on a bi-weekly and call-in basis to transport live animals (cats and dogs) using the College’s transport van on various trips within central Alberta (Red Deer, Ponoka, Brooks, Didsbury, Calgary, and potentially other cities/towns). Transportation requirements are every other Friday and Monday throughout the year. Each day is approximately 6 hours of driving and preparation.
Successful candidates must have a valid Class 5 (Class 1, 2, 4, would be considered an asset) driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract. Preferred candidates will possess certification of training in Hours of Service, Daily Pre-Trip Inspection, Cargo Securement, and Weights and Dimensions. Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete these training courses and successfully complete a road test conducted by a licensed examiner. All drivers must meet with the College’s mechanic and safety officer for orientation, prior to being assigned driving duties. All drivers must meet the appropriate National Safety Code requirements. Drivers need to make decisions with the Students in mind, focusing on providing the best possible student experience

Rates of pay are as follows:

  • Hourly Driving Rate $19.34 per hour
  • Hourly Waiting Time Rate $18.78per hour
  • Minimum Daily Rate (2 hours driving plus 1 hour waiting) $51.64

Conditions of Employment:

  • Current Criminal Reference check that is free of any offenses.
  • Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies.
