We are currently seeking a Transport Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy transport department. Managing a fleet of up to 50 vehicles, 35 drivers, and a team of 6 office-based transport staff, this is a key leadership role within the company.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential)
  • Proven experience in a similar role managing fleet and driver operations
  • Knowledge of transport legislation, DVSA standards, and health & safety regulations
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop staff
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • IT literacy and experience with transport systems, compliance software, and telematics
  • Full driving license
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the transport department, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high service standards.
  • Supervise and support drivers and transport office staff, carrying out regular 1-to-1s, briefings, and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure all drivers have the appropriate and up-to-date qualifications, training, and PPE.
  • Monitor fleet compliance in line with DVSA, Transport Commissioner, FORS, ISO and internal policies.
  • Oversee budgets and department P&L, ensuring operational costs are controlled and improvements are identified.
  • Conduct and, or assist with investigations following incidents, damages, or complaints, and take part in disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Analyse and act on data from tachographs, telematics, and compliance software.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth-running of the overall operation.
  • Manage driver induction and ongoing training programmes.
  • Build a positive, safety-conscious team culture.
  • Assist and represent the company in external audits and regulatory inspections.
