Description

Fleet Compliance & Transport Manager

Ascot or Essex | £45,000–£50,000 + benefits

Monday to Friday, 8.30am–5.30pm

A growing operational business is looking for an experienced Transport Manager or Transport Supervisor to take responsibility for its multi-site fleet, transport compliance and vehicle maintenance activity.

The role can be based at either the company’s Ascot or Essex location. Regular travel between the Ascot and Essex sites will be required, along with occasional travel to depots in the North of England.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, well maintained and available to support a responsive, 24/7 operation. You will work closely with operations and planning teams, external maintenance providers and drivers to manage fleet performance, reduce risk and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance, compliance and day-to-day management of a mixed vehicle fleet across several depots.
  • Manage planned maintenance, vehicle defects, repairs, warranties and 24/7 breakdown support.
  • Ensure compliance with UK transport legislation, DVSA requirements, Operator Licence obligations, health and safety and environmental standards.
  • Monitor driver and vehicle compliance, including tachographs, licences, vehicle checks, speeding and infringement reporting.
  • Maintain fleet records and transport-management system data.
  • Investigate vehicle incidents, insurance claims and non-compliance, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Manage rental vehicles, including inspections, documentation and onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Lead fleet-related audits, projects and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain relevant fleet accreditation standards, including acting as the internal lead for FORS requirements.
  • Build effective working relationships with drivers, operational teams and external suppliers.
  • Line manage and develop junior transport colleagues.
