Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Transport Manager to oversee and manage the company’s fleet operations. The successful candidate will ensure the safe, legal, and cost-effective transportation of our glass products across the UK. This role is critical to maintaining our reputation for reliable and timely deliveries while ensuring compliance with transport legislation and company policies.
Please note this is a full time office based role.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in a Transport Manager or similar logistics management role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with transport management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience in the glass or construction materials industry is an advantage.
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: £40,000.00-£48,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage daily transport operations to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers.
  • Lead, manage, and support a team of drivers and logistics staff.
  • Oversee the scheduling, routing, and tracking of vehicles using transport management systems.
  • Ensure all drivers comply with legal, health and safety, and company standards.
  • Maintain and update driver records, vehicle servicing, MOTs, insurance, and tachograph compliance.
  • Liaise with the production and customer service teams to coordinate delivery requirements.
  • Handle transport-related customer queries and resolve any delivery issues promptly.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, mileage, and transport costs to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK transport legislation, including operator licensing and driver hours.
