Due to our continued success and ongoing business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a driven and engaging Transport Manager to join our team at the Greenford Shared User site.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to take their first step into a senior transport position. You will be responsible for overseeing a fleet that currently includes:

  • A daily driver pool of 20
  • 12 trucks
  • 10 rigids
  • 12 trailers

You will play a key role in managing operations between our Stafford and Portbury locations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high service standards across the board.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proven management experience overseeing large office and driver teams of 100+ personnel.
  • A strong passion for transport compliance, with in-depth knowledge of transport legislation and the capability to become the site’s O Licence holder.
  • A people-centric leader with a track record of driving positive cultural change within teams.
  • Previous experience operating at Transport Shift Manager level, with solid transport operational knowledge.
  • Demonstrated success in supervisory or management roles within a transport environment.
  • Strong organisational abilities and a commitment to delivering consistent quality in a fast-paced, time-sensitive operation.
  • Sound analytical thinking and the ability to apply logic in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
  • High levels of flexibility and a collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate relevant and practical experience in transport operations and team leadership.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external customers, colleagues, and third-party partners to consistently exceed service expectations.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with customers, stakeholders, and team members at all levels
  • Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance meetings, ensuring full compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • CPC qualified, is desirable.

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage a team of drivers, shunters, and Transport Team Leaders to deliver high levels of productivity and performance.
  • Be a role model in living our values - promoting an environment where respect, trust and integrity is always maintained
  • Take ownership of site budgetary and financial targets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Motivate and guide your team to meet planned targets and deadlines through proactive leadership and support.
  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing operational processes and methods.
  • Ensure full legislative compliance across all driver-related Health & Safety matters, including equipment and tachograph management.
  • Analyse transport data and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Delivery on Time, Delivery Success, and other customer-related metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customer meetings, presenting information clearly and professionally.
  • A flexible approach to working hours will be required
  • Ensuring all Personnel policies and procedures are followed that enable Colleagues to be treated fairly and with respect in line with the Wincanton Principles.
