As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for designing and optimising transport networks to ensure the efficient movement of goods and services.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in transport planning, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of transport planning software, geographic information systems (GIS), and routing optimisation tools.
  • Familiarity with transport regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve transport-related issues.
  • Understanding of environmental sustainability and awareness of green transportation practices.
  • Ideally planned with Chill consolidation network and use of ESS/GTS system ideally both preferred but not essential

Responsibilities

THIS ROLE IS ON A 4 ON 4 OFF ROTA PATTERN WORKING 10-12 HOURS SHIFTS.

Your role will involve analysing data, creating, and developing transport plans that maximise resource utilisation, minimise costs, and meet customer requirements.
As a key member of the planning team, you will contribute to enhancing operational efficiency, improving customer satisfaction, and supporting overall business objectives.

MAIN AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Develop optimal transport routes considering factors such as distance, traffic patterns, delivery time windows, and vehicle capacity. Utilise advanced software and tools to optimise routes, minimise fuel consumption, and reduce emissions. Continuously monitor and adjust routes based on real-time data and feedback.
  • Determine the most efficient allocation of goods to vehicles, considering factors such as weight restrictions, volume, and vehicle capacity. Optimise load planning to maximize resource utilisation, minimize empty trips, and reduce transport costs.
  • Analyse historical transport data, market trends, and customer demand patterns to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings. Use statistical modelling and forecasting techniques to develop accurate transport demand forecasts and capacity plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant transport regulations, permits, and licenses. Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, such as commercial, warehouse, and customer service teams, to align transport plans with overall business objectives. Communicate with customers, suppliers, and other external parties to address inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain positive relationships.
  • Identify potential risks and disruptions in the transport network, such as traffic congestion and adverse weather conditions. Develop contingency plans and alternative routing strategies to mitigate risks and maintain service continuity.
  • Monitor transport performance metrics and identify areas for improvement. Propose and implement process enhancements, technology advancements, and cost-saving initiatives to optimise transport operations and increase operational efficiency.
