THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Cities, Planning and Design group works alongside our Property and Transport Infrastructure teams, providing advice and experience in key areas like Transport, Placemaking, Economics, Town Planning, Project Management, and Digital Transformation. We’re involved with a diverse range of clients across many markets and sectors. Join us in the Cities, Planning and Design group in the West and Midlands region, where you’ll play a crucial role in one of our largest teams outside London. You can be based in Bristol or Cardiff, and you’ll be at the heart of our growth and success, helping us win new business and deliver exciting projects.
We’re looking for forward-thinking and data driven person who is an integral part of the development and placemaking jigsaw, assisting senior leaders and managers in bringing value through technical excellence - connecting places and improving lives. The individual will be involved in a range of projects including but not limited to planning for a range of transport modes (walking, cycling, public transport, highways and aviation), planning for development, transport interchange and major events. Although based in the Cardiff or Bristol office there will be a requirement to interact with colleagues across the other West and Midlands offices as well as less frequent interaction with other Arup offices nationally and internationally.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

  • Would ideally have an understanding of public transport data formats (i.e. GTFS) and working with tools such as Podaris or TRAC

Responsibilities:

In this role you will work with transport consulting colleagues in the West to support on projects, deliver tasks and enable future growth. You will work with various data sets to produce data driven domain insights and communicate results in an accessible format, and build on the existing team developing their data driven approach to projects, including visualising data to a less technical audience. You will have an understanding of different transport models and how they come together on projects for an integrated transport solution, this will include familiarity with relevant policies and design guidance and knowledge of various transport related tools and modelling software.
