Description

Hilltop Transport is a family run general haulage business which is currently expanding at a fast pace. Operating since the early 90’s, with long standing customers, we currently have 40 vehicles ranging from vans to artics, including some with mechanical offload. We also have 2 sister companies, with over 75 vehicles in the total fleet.
We have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join us as a transport planner in our busy West Bromwich based transport office. To take responsibility for the daily transport planning of our vehicles, carry out driver de-briefs, liaise with customers and complete any operational documentation as required.
The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills, have good IT skills and preferably have previous experience in an operational role in a logistics/haulage business.

  • An excellent communicator with the ability to work accurately at pace, in a methodical and tidy manner
  • experienced with transport planning in a general haulage environment

  • experienced in dealing directly with drivers, including trampers
  • competent with the understanding of drivers hours / working time regulations
  • able to understand key transport costs

Responsibilities
  • Planning – daily route planning of general haulage work throughout the UK. This includes tramping work.
  • Operational Review - identify areas of improvement, with a focus on maximising link and backloading.
  • Customer - ensure our key contacts are serviced in an efficient and timely manner, no matter what they need.
  • Drivers – communicate effectively, whilst managing and monitoring their plans.
  • Communication - be a key link with Senior Management and our sister companies.
  • Finance - improve the margins currently being achieved from the transport planning

    In return, we are able to offer a salary of between £28,000 - £34,000, based on experience, qualifications and skill.
