CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• Multiple years of experience in a Transport Planner.
• Previous experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment is essential.
• Proven ability to lead planning functions and manage resources effectively.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to improve performance.
• Familiar with transport management and route planning systems (e.g., Paragon, Microlise, or similar).
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to coach and develop team members.
• Working knowledge of UK transport and logistics regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for an experienced transport planner to join our operations team at our New Rossington site. This role is ideal for someone with a strong track record in transport planning, particularly within a distribution or manufacturing environment, who is now ready to lead and optimise our planning function.
The Transport Planner will be responsible for ensuring that all transport and operational planning is executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with service expectations. You’ll play a key role in managing planning resources, improving operational flow, and driving planning strategy across the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and manage daily transport and operational planning activities to ensure optimal delivery routes and resource usage.
• Oversee short, medium, and long-term planning for transport and logistics, aligning plans with production and customer demands.
• Collaborate closely with warehouse, production, and transport teams to ensure seamless end-to-end operations.
• Analyse data to identify trends and drive efficiencies in planning processes.
• Implement and maintain planning systems and software to support accurate and agile scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with transport and operational legislation, including driver hours and load restrictions.
• Maintain strong relationships with hauliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
• Lead, develop, and support a team of planners or schedulers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Produce reports and KPIs to track planning performance and support strategic decisions.
