Description

(TRANSPORT PLANNER) - POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client is a trusted and fast-growing transport and logistics provider, known for delivering high-value, time-critical solutions to clients across the UK, Ireland, and internationally. Specialising in white-glove delivery services and complex freight movements, they support a wide range of industries, including high-security and high-tech sectors.
With a strong focus on quality, customer service, and precision, our client is at the forefront of transport solutions for complex movements such as Data Centre operations; planning and managing full-service logistics from origin to final destination with care and efficiency.
Our client is now seeking a highly organised and adaptable Transport Planner to join their dedicated transport team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating transport activities, with a focus on full end-to-end project planning for Data Centre logistics.
This role plays a key part in ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery, working closely with drivers, warehouse teams, forwarders, clients, and internal departments to maintain high service levels. Strong geographical knowledge of the UK & Ireland and a solid understanding of vehicle routing is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage daily transport schedules, updating digital planning systems in real time.
  • Review incoming booking emails, amend route details, crew names, and contact info as needed.
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the transport operation, ensuring both cost-effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Liaise with internal teams to communicate any delays, service changes, or operational issues.
  • Finalise all scheduling allocations and load plans, maximising vehicle utilisation.
  • Justify and cost all subcontracted work before confirmation.
  • Read and action all delivery method statements, checking for required equipment and specific instructions.
  • Conduct daily driver briefs and debriefs, ensuring tachograph data is scanned and recorded.
  • Handle delivery paperwork checks for accuracy on times, instructions, and dates.
  • Assist with local deliveries if required, during periods of driver shortages.
  • Support the Transport Manager with investigations and escalations when necessary.
