POSITION SUMMARY:
The Transport Team Leader role provides an important link from the Transport Manager to the remote based transport teams and assists by overseeing the transport function out of their hub. You are required to communicate effectively with your teams in order to ensure they understand processes / current priorities, are aware of new initiatives and alert to safety or quality issues.

POSITION: Transport Team leader

REPORTS TO: Transport Manager
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Liaising with the Transport manager each morning, accurately reporting any issues with the team, routes or vehicles. To do this effectively, you will need to complete morning checks for van cleanliness, as well as ensuring drivers are clean and tidy with the correct uniform.
· Plan effectively to ensure vans are collected and dropped off for drivers, this will mean leaving early.
· Use problem solving skills when drivers experience issues like breakdowns, incorrectly loaded boxes or last minute sickness, ensuing all deliveries are still completed in a timely manner. This may also include acting driving cover for sickness as and when required
· Re-routing calls when necessary and reporting to the Transport manager to update on POD Father.
· Be on call to assist with small repairs and maintenance, such as bulb changes, cameras, trackers and work mobile phones.
· Communicate with the team on lorry arrival times, and work with the drivers to put plans into place for the day, ensuring all drivers are prepared, supported and capable.
· Take responsibility for cross dock sites, ensuring facilities are clean, tidy and well maintained.
· Building relationships with drivers and the sales team, to ensure a good channel of communication. Encouraging drivers to report on sales activity, and ensuring they have information for new drops etc.
· Other ad-hoc duties to support the Transport and Management Team
