Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is one of the largest construction companies in North Western Alberta. Through our commitment to excellence in product and service, we supply project management, gravel, asphalt paving and ready mix concrete to the needs of our communities throughout Alberta.
Our Edmonton location is currently looking for an experienced and proactive Transportation Administrator to join our team to cover a 18 month maternity leave. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience at Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd., contributing to exciting projects and supporting a dynamic team.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple logistics tasks
  • Strong time management and attention to detail
  • Accurate record-keeping and documentation
  • Clear verbal and written communication with drivers, contractors, and internal teams
  • Familiarity with telematics management systems, specifically Samsara
  • Understanding of routing, scheduling, and tracking procedures
  • Awareness of DOT regulations, freight documentation, and compliance requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Comfortable using databases and logistics software
  • Fast and accurate data entry
  • Quick thinker who can troubleshoot delivery or scheduling issues
  • Able to remain calm and effective under pressure
  • Ability to work closely with transportation supervisors, accounts receivable, dispatch, and contractors
  • Flexible and cooperative attitude
  • Professional and helpful demeanor when dealing with internal and external parties
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, or admin support
  • Familiarity with transport regulations and documentation (e.g., bills of lading, manifests)

Responsibilities
  • Review and update internal databases
  • Prepare and process shipping documents (bills of lading, manifests)
  • Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments
  • Review and reconcile BOL’s handed in by contractors.
  • Coordinate with internal staff, contractors, and drivers
  • Handle inquiries regarding delivery times, shipping issues, and documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries and transport activities
  • Ensure accurate and timely dispatch
  • Communicate any delays or issues to relevant department
  • Provide status updates to internal teams and external parties as needed
  • Ensure transportation activities comply with federal regulations
  • Assist in preparing logistics and transportation reports
  • Assist with quarterly inventory.
  • Identify trends, inefficiencies, or issues in transport operations and suggest improvements
  • Support transport managers and logistics coordinators with general administrative tasks
  • Process invoices, purchase orders, and transport charges
