Job Details Job Location: Edmonds, WA 98026 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $22.00 - $28.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: Up to 50% Job Category: Health Care JOB DESCRIPTION Transportation Aide Department: Nursing General Summary Provides non-emergency transportation to residents in order to attend their medical appointment(s). Also required to perform on-call duties as needed and agreed upon in the pre-determined schedule Essential Job Functions Currently possess a valid State Driver’s License. Must have an active CNA License for the state Must be able to read schedules and maps and be able to understand driving directions. After completing the appropriate certification training, *Expected to drive a wheelchair lift van, which is specially equipped with an automatic lift for raising patients in wheelchairs into the van. Due to the unique nature of this position there will be “down time” throughout the day. If other small jobs at the center are not needed, position will be required to clock out until the next scheduled transport is ready to depart/pickup. Keeps in communication with center to notify of any pertinent information related to resident transportation. Responsible for obtaining directions to the location before leaving the center. Promptness is required; responsible for leaving ample time to arrive at pickups. If for any reason a pickup cannot be made at the scheduled time, drivers are responsible for notifying the center in advance. *Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and act in accordance with Center Health Services, Inc.’s Compliance Program. *Attends and participates in in-service training, performance improvement (“PI”) committees and other meetings as scheduled and directed Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy. *Works overtime, holiday and weekend hours as scheduled. Follows center dress and hygiene policies. Physical Demands The responsibilities of this position involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 60 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling. Tasks marked with an asterisk (*) are those that regularly require these physical activities. All employees of nursing homes may be required to provide lifting and transfer assistance to residents/patients. Lifting and/or transferring some residents/patients will require the use of a lifting device and/or assistance of other staff. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure and potential exposure to blood borne pathogens. This job cannot be performed without exposure to the stresses associated with a, 24 hour skilled care environment that delivers care and services primarily to disabled and cognitively impaired residents in an aging population. Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: emergency health or safety response, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in a nursing home, death and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff. HIPAA is a law that must be followed by all healthcare personnel at every level. This position is a Mandated Reporter regarding the suspicion of elder abuse and may have access to Protected Health Information (PHI) Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Prior experience working with long-term care residents and or the elderly desirable Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other center staff. Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly. Meets all health requirements as required by law
Responsibilities
The Transportation Aide provides non-emergency transportation to residents for medical appointments and performs on-call duties as needed. They must maintain communication with the center regarding resident transportation and ensure promptness for pickups.
