Description

FBS Tire Recycling, Inc., based in Ayer, Massachusetts, has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Transportation and Logistics Manager. FBS is a leading tire recycling company serving the Northeast, collecting used tires throughout New England, New York and Pennsylvania, and recycling them through a state of the art, PLC driven tire recycling processing system.
The Transportation and Logistics Manager will be responsible for scheduling customer tire pick-ups as well as front hauls, dispatching drivers, managing fleet operations and staffing, and coordinating vehicle and equipment maintenance for a fleet of trucks and trailers used to collect used tires. The manager will fill in as a Class A or B driver as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR THE POSITION INCLUDE:

  • Current CDL-A license, current DOT Medical Card, safe driving record, and at least 5 years of experience as a Class A Truck Driver.
  • Leadership experience, proven leadership skills, and a results-oriented management style.
  • Excellent customer service philosophy, skills and abilities.
  • Problem resolution skills and abilities, especially in emergency situations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams to a high level of performance.
  • Strong detail orientation.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of tractor trailers and other equipment.
  • Knowledge and application of effective trucking safety procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of revenue goals and expectations.
  • Full range of physical mobility including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, carrying, reaching, driving, manual dexterity and heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds) required.
    Current Class A license, a current DOT Medical Card, successful drug screen, and safe driving record required.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzing and evaluating customer needs, expectations, pricing, etc.
  • Reviewing front-haul opportunities for profitability and coordinating return trips with box trailer tire collections.
  • Administering all required company safety procedures and fully complies with OSHA, DOT and other state and federal regulatory requirements, including monitoring driver’s hours.
  • Ensuring and reviewing the timely completion and submission of all related paperwork.
  • Managing drivers, including hiring, training, oversight, payroll, DOT compliance, safety regulations, logs, hiring, etc..
  • Managing the fleet of trucks and trailers, including inspecting incoming trailers, managing maintenance, registrations and annual inspections, assessing needs for replace/repair, etc.
  • Managing job-related vendor relationships.
  • Providing the owner with weekly updates of job related metrics, such as tire collections, employee hours, capital expenditure requests, etc.
  • Filling in as a driver for tire collection, front hauls, trailer shuttling, and other assistance as needed, including helping out in the yard.
