JOB SUMMARY The Transportation Chaperone is responsible for ensuring the safety, organization, and supervision of children during transportation operations. They will ensure all camp rules are being followed during travel. This role requires traveling approximately three-four hours each way, managing attendance, assisting with luggage, and ensuring that each camper checks out properly with their parent or guardian. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and ensure the safety of children during charter bus/van travel and at pick up and drop off locations Take and maintain accurate attendance records at departure and arrival points Assist children in transitioning between campus transportation and airport travel Help load and unload luggage safely and efficiently Ensure children check out with their designated parent, guardian or airport attendant Communicate departure and drop-off updates to the Transportation Coordinator Address minor behavioral issues and escalate concerns as necessary Follow all safety protocols and guidelines set by Woodward and drop off locations Greet campers, guests, VIPs and parents with enthusiasm and hospitality Maintain record and receipt of any authorized camp expenditures Maintain clean fleet of vehicles Assist with creating a safe, fun and creative environment for our camper, guests and staff Contribute to the overall supervision and safety of all campers May assist in cabin daily cleaning inspections May assist with organizing execution of recreation activities for younger campers Will spend at least one night a week off campus at a hotel in NJ Should be able to navigate an airport May spend a large portion in airports and busses Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES +/- 32 campers (7- 17 years old) KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate supervision, agile, and able to pivot quickly Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and accountability Strong attention to detail Comfortable handling confidential information Successful working in an independent and team environment Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of people QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications- High School degree or equivalent Provide work related references upon request. Ability to complete post-hire trainings such as NFHS and Safe Sport Trainings Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of all pre-hire background checks, including criminal history clearance through the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH), child abuse clearance through the Department of Public Welfare, Motor Vehicle Record if required by position and federal background screening via FBI fingerprinting Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a camp environment is preferred. Mandated Reporter Training Certificate Safesport Training Certificate Drive Safe Training PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs. Must be comfortable working in an outdoor and indoor all-season environment. Adhere to all workplace safety practices, expectations, and guidelines.
