TRANSPORTATION COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Reports To: Director of Operations
Job Type: Full Time (40hrs per week)
Location: Delta, BC (Hybrid after 90-days, minimum 3 days in office per week)

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in transportation compliance, safety, or regulatory affairs
  • Deep knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation laws and regulations
  • Experience in audits, investigations, SOP development, and risk assessments
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience collaborating across departments in high-compliance environments

Preferred:

  • Certification in Transportation Safety, Compliance, or Risk Management (e.g., NATMI, NSC programs)
  • Experience supporting Owner-Operator fleets and cross-border operations
  • Familiarity with compliance tracking software and onboarding platforms

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

The Compliance Manager ensures the company operates within the framework of all applicable transportation laws and internal standards. This role develops and leads company-wide compliance and safety systems, identifies risks, manages audits, and ensures operational alignment through training and partnership with operations leaders. The Compliance Manager also oversees the compliance-related aspects of Owner-Operator onboarding/offboarding and contributes to the recruiting process from a readiness perspective.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regulatory Compliance & Oversight:

Ensure compliance with all relevant Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations. Monitor regulatory changes and update internal policies and documentation. Lead internal and external audits and manage compliance reporting at national and provincial/state levels.

  • Risk Management & Operational Analysis:

Conduct regular risk assessments. Analyze trends in incidents, violations, and audit findings. Develop and track corrective action plans in collaboration with relevant departments.

  • Compliance Systems & SOP Implementation:

Develop and maintain SOPs in partnership with Operations. Lead the implementation of compliance systems, tools, and controls. Ensure processes support daily compliance and safety expectations. Collaborate with the Director of Operations for review and approval of any workflow or policy changes before implementation.

  • Training & Culture Building:

Design and deliver compliance-related training (regulations, safety, ethics). Coach operations and owner operator teams on meeting compliance expectations. Promote a culture of safety and ethical behavior.

  • Accountability & Leadership:

Hold self and others accountable to compliance standards. Ensure operational teams prioritize safety and policy adherence, especially when facing operational pressures. Report compliance metrics and risks to senior leadership.

  • Owner-Operator Onboarding, Offboarding & Recruitment Support:

Oversee the compliance-related components of Owner-Operator onboarding and offboarding, ensuring proper documentation, training, and policy alignment. Collaborate with the recruitment team to support screening and selection from a regulatory readiness perspective.
