Job Title: Transportation Coordinator
Company Introduction: G&C Food Distributors is a re-distributor of refrigerated, frozen, and dry food. Our distribution center is in Syracuse, NY. We store and deliver more than 4,000 food items to meet the needs of our customers across 27 states and 35 countries internationally.

G&C Foods is currently looking for a professional and dynamic Transportation Coordinator located in Syracuse, NY.
Location: Syracuse, NY
Schedule: 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will assist in the daily customer service and administrative activities of the Transportation Department to ensure accurate and prompt delivery of service to our customers. This is a fast-paced job and often requires multitasking.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Warehouse loading experience preferred
  • Experience in the food industry is a plus
  • Experience in transportation or logistics is a plus

Responsibilities
  • Provides driver support to drivers on dispatch/route/tractor/trailer issues during the night
  • Identify spare tractors at the beginning of every shift
  • Ensure drivers are leaving out at scheduled leave times
  • Check the driver’s delivery status using the electronic log system and update the
  • Transportation/Dispatch Manager with all concerns
  • Send late truck report to distribution list, contact affected customers, track and update as needed throughout the day
  • Update the power dock with the accurate ETA of inbound freight
  • Communicate with Sales, Purchasing, Customers, and Drivers concerning delivery appointment times and ETA
  • Book hotel rooms for drivers as needed
  • Work with Shipping/Welcome Center to identify which outside carriers have or have not checked in
  • Monitor trailer temperature alarms
  • Identify and correct any weight distribution problems with the trailers
  • Use of single/double electric jack or walk behind as necessary
  • Complete driver payroll for assigned drivers and submit to the manager for approval
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager or supervisor
