POSTED: December 9, 2025 POSITION: Transportation Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Customer Service-Operations BASE RATE: $15.92 per hour, with potential for additional compensation based on qualifications. POSITION SUMMARY: Upper Peninsula Health Plan (UPHP) coordinates the non-emergent medical transportation (NEMT) benefit for its Medicaid and dual eligible populations. The transportation coordinator facilitates and supports the NEMT benefit for members, drivers, providers, and vendors to ensure members have access to care. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Follows established Upper Peninsula Health Plan (UPHP) policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information. 2. Meets established production and performance metrics and ensures a positive experience for members, drivers, providers, and vendors utilizing or supporting the non-emergent medical transportation benefit. 3. Develops relationships and communicates with members, providers, drivers, and vendors, always representing UPHP in a professional manner. 4. Responds timely to inquiries and requests for transportation, determining the most cost-effective means that meets the member’s medical need and arranging transportation as appropriate. 5. Processes mileage reimbursement requests timely. 6. Educates members, drivers, providers, and vendors about the NEMT benefit and supporting policies and procedures. 7. Works closely with UPHP clinical services, pharmacy, claims examiners, and customer service representatives regarding authorizations, referrals, and specific health-related issues related to their NEMT benefit. 8. Participates in developing, testing, and implementing transportation procedures and makes recommendations to achieve maximum efficiency. 9. Maintains database of members, volunteer drivers, friends and family and vendors; maintains accurate and complete documentation of all NEMT activities. 10. Maintains confidentiality of client data. 11. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Minimum: High school diploma or GED Preferred: Some post-secondary education Experience: Minimum: One (1) year of general customer service, sales, or medical office experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Two (2) to four (4) years of general customer service, call center, sales or medical office experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
