Description

ABOUT US

First Class Trucking is a fast-growing brokerage focused on air cargo and time-critical ground. We deliver reliable service through a vetted national carrier network and tight, real-time communication.

Responsibilities

This is a hybrid role: ~70–80% office (dispatch, customer updates, track & trace) and ~20–30% field at Chicago-area airport cargo terminals (primarily ORD) to oversee loading/unloading, verify counts, labeling, and securement, and support drivers on site. Ideal for someone who enjoys coordinating details in the office and isn’t afraid to get hands-on at the dock when needed.

What You’ll DoOffice / Dispatch (Primary)

  • Plan, dispatch, and track shipments; proactively communicate ETAs, exceptions, and PODs.
  • Coordinate with carriers and drivers; schedule pickups/deliveries and dock times.
  • Provide responsive updates to clients; resolve issues (OS&D, delays, reworks).
  • Maintain accurate load files: BOLs, AWBs, labels, photos, and delivery confirmations.
  • Monitor HOS/ELD basics and ensure compliance with customer and carrier requirements.
  • Use our TMS and standard tools for status, notes, and KPI accuracy.

Field / Airport Terminals (As Needed)

  • Meet drivers at airline/CFS terminals to supervise loading/unloading.
  • Count and verify pieces, dims/weight, labels, and AWB assignments; correct discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper load securement (straps, blocking/bracing) and pallet integrity.
  • Liaise with terminal staff for tender/recovery, documentation, and exceptions.
  • Take photos, document variances/damage, and escalate issues promptly.

What You’ll Need

  • 1–3+ years in trucking, air cargo, or freight forwarding (dispatch/customer ops).
  • Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving in a fast pace.
  • Comfort working at airport cargo terminals and interacting with drivers & airline staff.
  • Ability to lift 40–50 lbs occasionally and work in warehouse/dock environments.
  • Driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Basic knowledge of air cargo docs (AWB/MAWB), labeling, and OS&D handling.
  • Familiarity with TMS/office tools (email, spreadsheets, PDFs, photo capture).
  • Eligibility to obtain airport/cargo-area badge (TSA background check/STA); prior badging at ORD is a plus.
  • Hazmat/TSA/IAC familiarity a plus; multilingual a plus.
