Description Transportation Dispatcher Pelham, AL – Southeastern Food Merchandisers Position Summary Southeastern Food Merchandisers is seeking a Transportation Dispatcher for our Pelham location. This role oversees drivers running dedicated route schedules with no over-the-road work. All drivers depart from and return to the same terminal daily. Our fleet is 100% automatic transmissions. Key Responsibilities Dispatch drivers and communicate special delivery instructions. Update equipment activity and yard control systems. Process, monitor, and audit driver logs and DOT hours of service. Reporting and processing of yard safety or over-the-road incidents. Administer DOT testing as required. Ensure order accuracy standards are met. Collaborate with supervisors and managers on daily operations. Promote safety and sanitation standards across all areas. Utilize dispatch software, ELD devices, and POD systems effectively. Requirements Required: Class A CDL with 1+ year of experience and a clean MVR. Preferred: High School Diploma or GED required. 2+ years of supervisory experience, driver supervision, or dispatching. 2+ years working with DOT hours of service regulations. Strong oral and written communication skills. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of DOT, DMV, and FMCSA rules/regulations. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
