Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Schedule and dispatch drivers, trucks, and equipment to meet delivery and pickup requirements. Monitor driver routes and provide real-time support to ensure on-time service. Communicate with drivers regarding assignments, route changes, delays, and customer needs. Track vehicle locations and shipment status using transportation management systems and GPS technology. Coordinate load assignments to maximize fleet utilization and operational efficiency. Maintain accurate records of driver logs, trip reports, fuel usage, and transportation documentation. Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Hours of Service (HOS) requirements, and company safety policies. Respond promptly to transportation emergencies, breakdowns, accidents, or service disruptions. Work closely with customers, other departments, and drivers to resolve delivery issues and maintain service excellence. Verify load information, delivery schedules, and transportation documentation for accuracy. Monitor driver performance and communicate operational concerns to management. Assist in planning and optimizing routes to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. Generate and maintain dispatch reports and operational records. Obtain all permits required to transport equipment. Load and unload equipment as required. Operate a forklift to pull equipment attachments. Associate degree or equal experience in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of dispatching, logistics coordination, or transportation experience preferred. Experience in the trucking or freight transportation industry strongly preferred. Some knowledge or experience with heavy equipment is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of transportation operations, routing, and dispatch procedures. Familiarity with DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and transportation compliance standards. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure. Proficiency in transportation management software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Strong problem-solving and customer service skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and attention to detail. Requirements Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. Ability to communicate effectively by phone, radio, and electronic communication systems. Occasional lifting of office materials up to 20 pounds. Ability to climb onto machines. Work Environment Office environment within a transportation or trucking operation. May require occasional evening, weekend, holiday, or on-call availability based on operational needs.
