Position Title:
Transportation Distribution Team Lead

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains current CDL class A license and medical card qualified to drive if necessary.
  • Reliable and dependable with self-motivation to oversee transportation.
    Essential Skills: Given that God’s Pantry Food Bank is both a crisis response and an ongoing service agency, it is necessary that staff be adaptable and creative, able to deal with rapid change and unusual demands of time and effort. It is also imperative that excellent working relationships and a positive atmosphere be maintained with not only the staff, but with donors, volunteers, clients and all others with whom the employee comes in contact while representing GPFB.
    Candidates should be outgoing and enjoy interacting with people. Computer skills and data entry experience are essential. Concern for the issues of hunger and poverty and their solutions. Able to work with a variety of people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Attention to detail. Self-starter with ability to work independently. Able to perform physical labor, including heavy lifting. Clean driving record with a CDL class A license and able to pass a DOT physical. Able to operate a forklift. Able to work independently and as a part of a team. Good communication and mathematical skills.
    Reports to: Transportation Logistics Manager

Essential Duties/Functions: To ensure safe and efficient operation of the transportation team for God’s Pantry Food Bank.

  • Supervises the transportation staff, ensures compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.
  • Works with Transportation Programs Manager on assignments, weekly truck schedules and delegates task to expedite workflow.
  • Enforces Hours of Service and DVIR compliance by auditing daily.
  • Maintains high standards of workplace safety. Co-Chairs Safety Committee.
  • Works with Inventory Control Coordinator, Welcome Center Coordinator and Warehouse Manager on assuring all truck sheets are complete and accurate ensuring all pre-built orders are loaded and the truck weight complies.
  • Maintains and oversees training schedule for new hires to ensure Driver Qualifications files are complete. Annual MVDC’s are complete in all files.
  • Oversees GPS/Telematics to ensure all drivers and routes are online and visible.
  • Maintains records and verifies fuel purchases. Purchases oil, windshield washer fluid and other supplies needed for the trucks.
  • Performs annual performance evaluations on all employees reporting to Transportation Distribution Manager.
  • Maintain a cooperative and productive work environment.
  • Maintains control sheet for driver’s license and DOT medical on all drivers.
  • Investigates all accidents or incidents and maintains Accident log for DOT compliance.
  • Performs ride along according to the schedule provided by the Fulfillment-Logistics Director to ensure drivers are safe and efficient.
  • Supervise program drivers.
