Description Job Title: Transportation Driver Reports To: Program Manager Location: Columbia Position Summary: Apex Recovery is seeking a dependable and compassionate Transportation Driver to join our Columbia team. This position plays a vital role in supporting client care by ensuring safe, timely, and professional transportation services for individuals in our treatment programs. The Transportation Driver will also assist with facility operations when not driving, acting as a Recovery Support (RS) staff member as needed. Key Responsibilities: Provide safe and reliable transportation for clients attending Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), new admissions, and discharges. Prioritize IOP client transport to and from the Columbia facility. Maintain a professional, calm, and respectful demeanor—especially with clients in emotionally vulnerable or crisis states. Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; report and coordinate vehicle maintenance promptly. Ensure vehicles are clean, well-stocked, and road-ready at all times. Manage and facilitate store runs and other facility-related errands. Accurately complete and submit transportation logs, mileage reports, and other required documentation. Communicate clearly with clinical and operations teams regarding client status, schedule changes, or behavioral concerns. Adhere to all state and federal driving laws, company policies, and HIPAA/confidentiality standards. Assist clients in and out of vehicles, ensuring all passengers are secured with seatbelts. When not driving, support the team as an RS staff member and, at times, help facilitate groups or assist with census management. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Must be flexible to accommodate transportation needs outside of standard hours, based on client or business demands. Requirements Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required). Must meet eligibility requirements for coverage under Apex’s auto insurance policy. CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Previous experience in a behavioral health or substance use treatment setting preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure. Must pass a background check and drug screening. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and drive for extended periods. Able to lift up to 30 lbs and assist clients with mobility.
