Bureau Veritas North America, Inc. (Irvine, CA) seeks Transportation Engineer responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, and/or specification requirements, assuring that construction conforms to plans and specifications, for projects involving the construction of transportation infrastructure, including but not limited to highways, streets, bridges, rail and building facilities.
Main Responsibilities:
Inspect each stage of construction up to completion.
Perform daily field inspections. Maintain inspection records.
Prepare reports on labor, material, and equipment on site. Interpret plans, specifications, and codes.
Verify contract work is performed in accordance with all applicable governing codes and regulations.
Maintain daily activity logs and reports with photographs. Monitor construction sites for safety violations.
Monitor contractor-testing activities; prepare Non-Conformance Reports when work is not performed to the approved standards.
Perform civil engineering calculations associated with survey, materials and forces.
Participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
Track quality assurance progress.
Arrange and coordinate technical inspections such as electrical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete, and asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel. Coordinate laboratory activities and compare verifications test results with result from Contractor’s laboratory.
Provide Construction Safety and Security field services, as directed, including but not limited to Site Safety and Security Reviews including for Construction Equipment, Personnel, Work Procedures and Traffic Control.
Travel to various unanticipated locations in the U.S. to interact with clients and inspect transportation project worksites on short- or long-term assignments.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
(2) years of civil/transportation engineering experience, to include public works project experience, including performing site inspections, schedule management, subcontractor management, project documentation, and generating daily inspector diaries and monthly quantity pay sheets with calculations.
This position is exempt from California’s state licensure requirements for engineers, as all work is supervised by one or multiple Professional Engineers (PEs) who are licensed in California.
Salary offered: $91,354 - $120,640
